Rukgala Retreat Sri Lanka

Your Home

Nestled high in the Sri Lankan hill country, an hours drive from Kandy on the shores of Lake Victoria, you will find Rukgala retreat space. Completely secluded on our own private property overlooking the lake, this will be our home for the training. Located in an area which is known not just for its natural beauty but equally for the variety of rich and warm cultures it plays host to, Rukgala sits wonderfully close to lesser-known temples, lush green tea estates, the untouched mountains of The Knuckles range and secluded villages that dot the shores of Lake Victoria. These quiet surrounds make for a wonderfully mixed, and authentically Sri Lankan experience.

With a pool, mountain bikes, kayaks and nearby walking tracks - students will have the freedom to unwind as they please in their free time.

"A truly magical and spiritual space which envelops you entirely in the healing and energising powers from our beloved mother Earth. The space and design is so beautifully achieved, the food divine (especially the gluten-free bread!) and the staff very friendly and helpful. A perfect coming together of a very special space. Thank you for hosting us."

The Food

We will be enjoying our meals together as a community, some meals will be in silence to allow ourselves to be mindful while eating, others will be social.

We want you to enjoy the freshest local food while you are with us, so we have chosen a menu that is not only healing, nourishing and healthy but also delicious! Fully catered, you'll be treated to three delicious vegetarian meals a day - with a menu ranging from Sri Lankan favourites to modern culinary delights. We will ensure you have plenty of fuel to stay focused throughout the training.

Also included is a fresh coconut and fresh juice daily, drinking water, tea and coffee!

Any specific dietary requirements can be catered for.

"I was so grateful to have you all as my teachers! Each one of you, while presenting different materials in different styles, earned my respect because of your expert understanding and presentation of these complex ideas and concepts. You were all so unique and yet felt like such a cohesive whole. The way you all worked so harmoniously together - bouncing off each other's work, collaborating across classes - really impressed me while helping me also see the large picture of Yoga as a whole."
